Making a Graphic Novel

I’m starting this blog post in February, but I’m completely unsure as to when it will actually be posted. This is because I’m making a graphic novel for my boyfriend, Adam, and I want it to be a surprise! But, I also want to share the process because I think it’s a really cool thing to be learning. Since I’m starting from scratch I’ll be writing out all of the steps and tricks I learn on the way.
If you’re interested in writing your own novel, hopefully my process can help you with yours.
To start I’m making a list of all of my favorite memories, fun scenes I’ve day dreamed, characteristics I love about him (so that I can exaggerate these in a really fun artistic way), things we do every day, and other things that either remind me of him and us, or that I think he would enjoy. I’m also gathering pins on Pinterest and making an idea board, this is a great way to figure out what kind of style I want to use when drawing, and how graphic or novely I’ll want this to be.
